TRAUMA THERAPY & TREATMENTS

According to trauma theory, there are many different types of trauma. For example, if you've been the victim of childhood sexual abuse, you may repress or block your memorable experiences. The closer you are to your abuser, the higher the degree of a trauma you experience. Likewise, trauma could form around the event of losing a loved one.

WHAT IS TRAUMA?

Trauma is the experience of severe psychological distress following any terrible or life-threatening event. Sufferers may develop emotional disturbances such as extreme anxiety, anger, sadness, survivor's guilt, or PTSD. Research on trauma identifies several healthy ways of coping, such as avoiding alcohol and drugs, seeing loved ones regularly, exercising, sleeping and paying attention to self-care.

The path to healing is rarely straight. If you are experiencing trauma triggers regularly, this type of response is common people dealing with unresolved traumatic experiences — but certainly not the end.

At S.O.L.E. Counseling, we can help guide you through the process to process and heal from your trauma.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy can benefit anyone who has experienced a single or repeated sexual, physical, or mental abuse experience. Other forms of treatment may be more appropriate, such as for initial intervention. At SOLE Counseling, we can help guide you through trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and any other complex post-traumatic stress disorder.

Depression

Depression are common obstacles and challenges that can keep us from enjoying life to the fullest. I will assist you in identifying and healing from the following:
  • Frequent feelings of nervousness and anxiety
  • Avoidance of people and places due to fear
  • Intensive negative self talk
  • Chronic low self-esteem
  • Persistent sad or negative mood

Anxiety

Lifestyle changes or socializing events can still trigger people. No matter if they meet the clinical threshold for an anxiety diagnosis or not. At SOLE Counseling, we help teach the tools you can use to overcome your anxiety. For example, learning how to take deep breaths, observing one's thoughts without judgment, and acknowledging the limits of one's control can reduce feelings of tension.

Our therapists will help you in identifying the circumstances that trigger your anxiety, and then guide you in pushing back against your anxious or irrational thoughts. Give us a call today to get started.

Attachment Issues

It's never too late to have a close relationship with someone you love. When you have a proper attachment with the ones you love, almost any obstacle can be overcome.

  • Affirming how you feel is very important for many people.
  • Touch is a vital part of being attached.
  • Emotional availability and support are the cornerstones of a loving, intimate relationship.
  • Knowing that you were once in love can give you the motivation you need to find it again.

The words "attachment" and "relationship" can help you find the strength to get things back on track if you have lost your attachment feelings.

Our therapists can help you look at your current relationships. By helping guide you through the process, we can show you how to connect with your partner and reclaim your relationship again on the road to happiness.
