A person can be diagnosed with Substance-Induced Psychotic Disorder when an addiction to substances leads to psychotic symptoms. Those with mental health issues are at a higher risk of developing a psychotic disorder. Likewise, those prone to psychosis are more likely to develop this disorder. Prescription medications, recreational drugs, or excessive alcohol can provoke psychotic symptoms. Triggers include over-intoxication, abuse, or withdrawal from legal or illegal substances.
At S.O.L.E. Counseling, we can help higher-risk people through over-intoxication, abuse of, or withdrawal from legal or illegal substances.
